I vaguely remember hubby raving about this one, but felt no great urge to read it - a book set on death row, how depressing. But as soon as i opened this little book (mainly because of the pretty copper horses on the cover..) and started reading the beautiful, lyrical language I couldn't put it down. Told in the voice of a death row inmate, this book gives a unique view of how it feels to be waiting for death, and paints a compelling picture of the complex characters found there. I found that this book really gave humanity to the 'monsters' there and the choices they had made. A confronting but magical, 'enchanted' story.
