The Museum of Modern Love’, Heather Rose
Heather Rose’s latest offering is a wonderful blend of fact and fiction. Set around artist Marina Abramovic’s famous performance, ‘The Artist is Present’, this novel is a tender examination of love, art and what it is to be truly ‘present’. The main character is Arky Swann, a New York film composer who is dealing with the absence of his wife due to illness. Suffering composers-block, he wanders into New York’s MOMA where he happens upon Abramovic’s 75-day performance piece. Deeply affected by his experience he returns again and again, encountering others equally moved by what they are witnessing. Insightful and beautifully realised, this novel is an absolute gem!
