Renee McBryde has worked in Community Services for the last fifteen years across several sectors, primarily working with disadvantaged children. Currently she works as a senior child protection practitioner for the Department of Children's and Families, mostly working with Indigenous families. She also teaches Community Welfare Diplomas and courses in Alice Springs. She grew up in Sydney and travelled extensively for two years, notching up over fifty countries. She spent time working in Kenya as a volunteer community welfare worker in a remote Internally Displaced Peoples Camp, about four hours out on Nairobi. Renee moved to Alice Springs in 2015, in the final months of being pregnant with her third son. She and husband chose Alice Springs because they still wanted to have a life full of adventure, even though everyone told them that would be impossible with three small children.
